Things to Do And See
In a mainly rural-type setting, one would think there’s not much to do. Not so here! A few of the local Sedalia attractions include:
Cherokee Ranch and Castle is a working cattle ranch with over 3,000 acres of open spaces that also includes its very own petrified forest. The castle itself contains an art collection and a museum of Scottish and Colorado history. Special events are held regularly and tours are easily arranged.
Devil’s Head Fire Lookout offers up breathtaking 360 degree views of the Pike National Forest after a hike up to the lookout point.
Sanctuary Center is a peaceful solution from everyday stress. Take a quiet walk through the gardens or stroll the labrynth, visit the meditation center and check the ‘new age’ library.

Real Estate
The cost of living here is slightly higher than the national average, mainly due to the price of real estate. Even with the average annual household income at just $58,775, the median home price is $547,100. This price is down 2.9% from just a few years ago. Acreage is available, ranging in price from around $40,000 to $54,000 for a 3-acre plot.
Rentals are rare here, but expect to pay an average of $1,700 – $2,400 per month.
